Maintenance distributor
Check distributor cap every 5.000 km inside. Remove oil and dust. Refresh and polish the rotor arm point and central contact point. Clean the 4 distributor cap contact points and examine the cap for signs of tracking dirt and hairline cracks. Examine the situation of the carbon brush and spring in the centre of the cap.
The cam faces should be smeared with high melting point grease for the cam and use grease on the pivot of the moving contact breaker and clean off any excess grease.
Vacuum advance
Depending of the vacuum or pressure in the vacuum retard unit the ignition timing is earlier or later. Measure the advance after the vacuum tube is disconnected and closed. Centrifugal advance mechanism. The mechanism starts after 1000 rpm.
